More tea please

120 X 130cm | Unstretched premium canvas
More Tea Please is a celebration of the memories formed around shared meals, family rituals, and the places that become part of our personal history. The work draws from my childhood experiences of eating out with my family, where our visits were often centred around our local yum cha and Malaysian restaurants.
The painting explores the way memory is reconstructed over time, where repeated experiences, familiar objects, and sensory details merge into a dreamlike version of the past. Like a nostalgic fever dream, the work brings together fragments of childhood: chopstick trainers, kopitiam mugs, dated restaurant interiors, and the dishes that defined these moments, from siu mai and cheong fun to endless pots of tea.
Through vibrant colour and layered imagery, More Tea Please reflects on food as more than nourishment—it becomes a vessel for connection, belonging, and the memories we continue to carry with us.
